What we do

The Revd Catriona Cumming during the service...

...and the Revd Kevin Ashby.

A fond farewell to catriona

St Peter's Church in Welby Lane, Melton Mowbray, was packed on Sunday afternoon (September 10th) for a special farewell service for The Revd Catriona Cumming who is moving to a new job in York.

For the past three years Catriona has been Melton Mowbray Team Parish Curate. Sunday's Festal Eucharist was the last chance for parishioners and friends to say their goodbyes before she takes up her new job as Succentor at York Minster.

Music for the service was provided by the St Mary's Church choir, led by James Gutteridge, and the music group from St James' Church, Burton Lazars.

Books, books and more books... Catriona receives her gifts from the Revd Kevin Ashby.

Catriona was thanked for all her help and hard work in the Team Parish by Team Parish Rector, the Revd Kevin Ashby and St Mary's church warden Roger Kirby. She was presented with several gifts including many books.

After the service those present sang a hymn, written especially by the Revd Kevin Ashby, to the tune of All things bright and beautiful.

Many thanks to everyone who came along to support Catriona and to wish her well in York and to all those who helped during and after the service when drinks and cake were served.

Lost for words... almost! The Revd Kevin Ashby leads the tributes to Catriona.

A coach has been arranged to Catriona's licensing service in York Minster (4pm on Sunday, 8th October). Coach arrangements - cost £18 (return!). Coach will be leaving from Station Approach (by Burton Street Car park) at 11.30am (with comfort stop on the way). Please provide your name and telephone number if you would like a place to Alison in the Parish Office on 01664 503530 or Derek Larder on 01664 569245 [Cheques made payable to ‘Melton Mowbray PCC’].

Above and below: Time for tea ...and cake, of course!
