news updatejpg 111FANTASTIC NEWS! We have now raised £1,700,985.71p, leaving us just £199,014.29p short of our target of £1,900,000 for St Mary's Church Re-ordering Project. The completion date for the work to our beautiful building is now Friday, November 24th, meaning the first event to be held in the new-look church will be the Christmas Tree Festival, which runs this year from Friday, December 1st until Tuesday, December 5th.

These are the latest pictures of the impressive Re-ordering Project taking place in St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray. The work is progressing well. Almost all of the floor has been laid in the North Transept (pictured below) and some of it in the South Transept (pictured above). The shell of the servery has been put up in the North Transept and work on the path near the north door is going well. The path should be open once more in the next fortnight. hands 2*Jacqui Wilson and Trisha Nutter are arranging prayer for the reordering project. They will meet fortnightly on different days and times to pray for 10 - 15 minutes somewhere around the outside of the church. They will use open prayer, to pray for pertinent areas of work at that time and will have a 'Re-ordering Prayer' on sheets for others to join in. Anyone can join in - just turn up. The dates are: Saturday, 24th June 12 noon; Wednesday, 5th July 9.30am; Tuesday, 18th July 4pm; Thursday, 3rd August 9.30am; Monday, 14th August 9.30am; Saturday, 2nd September 10am; Monday, 11th September 4pm; Wednesday, 27th September 3pm; Saturday, 14th October 1pm; Thursday, 26th October 9.30am; Monday, 6th November 9.30am (hopefully the last needed!!); We meet on grass by the Vestry door. Please share with any interested people. *A virtual tour of St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray, is now available to look at. It has been organised by the church's Fabric Express Committee so a before and after comparison can be made after the re-ordering project has got under way. The tour was compiled by Chris Jones from LeicesterPhoto Limited, which is based in Littlethorpe, Leicester.

An evening to encourage visitors to go on a spiritual pilgrimage around the churches in the Melton Mowbray Team Parish is being held on Wednesday, July 19th, from 7.30pm until 9.30pm, in Room 4 of the Samworth Centre.

Joust a minute, what's going on now! The next Saturday activities morning held by St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray, promises a fun time for all.
On Wednesday, 5th July, after some 18 months, Padre Roy Burley will take his last Heroes Liturgy and Holy Communion service at the Samworth Centre. Here he says a fond farewell and explains what he will be doing next.
A Songs of Praise and Communion Service will be held by St Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray at the Council Chambers, Parkside at 10am on Sunday, 30th July. All are very welcome.
