BBC East Midlands Today reporter James Roberson and a cameraman visited Derek Hunt's studios in Medbourne on Friday, March 24th and interviewed him about the stained glass window he is making for St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray. hands 2Jacqui Wilson and Trisha Nutter will be arranging prayer for the reordering project. They plan to meet fortnightly on different days and times to pray for 10 - 15 minutes somewhere around the outside of the church. They will use open prayer, to pray for pertinent areas of work at that time and will have a 'Re-ordering Prayer' on sheets for others to join in. Anyone can join in - just turn up. The dates are: Thursday, 30th March, 9.30am; Wednesday, 12th April, 12 noon; Thursday, 27th April, 9.30am; Monday, 8th May, 9.30am; Saturday, 27th May, 9.30am; Thursday, 8th June, 4pm. Please share with any interested people. This is obviously in addition to prayers said for the project at specific meetings, during church services and in personal prayer.
*A new way to donate to our project and have some fun at the same time. Crazy pipes for spare coins have been fixed to the Samworth Centre front staircase. Roll your spare cash down the pipes and listen to it on its journey. Thank you.
*A3 and A4 sized posters are now available to broadcast a) that the project is happening, b) that progress is being made and c) donations to the project costs are still needed. *A virtual tour of St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray, is now available to look at. It has been organised by the church's Fabric Express Committee so a before and after comparison can be made after the re-ordering project has got under way. The tour was compiled by Chris Jones from LeicesterPhoto Limited, which is based in Littlethorpe, Leicester.

On Palm Sunday, 9th April, there will be a United Parish Service of Holy Communion in Melton Mowbray at 10.00am. We welcome the Bishop of Leicester, the Rt Revd Martyn Snow, pictured, who will be visiting us.
The fundraising event for St Leonard's Church, Sysonby, which was advertised as being on March 27th, will in fact be held on April 27th at Sysonby Knoll Hotel, when Arthur Payne will present his No. 5 collection of ‘Photographs of Old Melton’.
The Revd Debbie Starling, pictured, has joined the Melton Mowbray Team Parish ministry team. Here she tells the story of why she, husband Gerard and daughter Amy have moved to the area and says thanks to everyone for the warm welcome they have had so far.
Hats of all shapes, sizes and colours were the order of the day at the latest Saturday activities morning held by St Mary's Church at Melton Borough Council offices in Parkside on Saturday (March 18th).
On Sunday, April 2nd, at 6pm Melton Mowbray Choral Society and St Mary's Church Choir present Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater, conducted by James Gutteridge, in Melton Baptish Church. Admission is free.
The next Care and Share Lunch will be held on Sunday, 26th March at 12.15pm in the Samworth Centre.
We have been told by Storehouse that they are having to buy some foodstuff to meet the needs of people referred to them. they are short of tinned fish, meats, curry, casseroles, hot dogs, puddings, spaghetti and vegetables, and instant pot noodles.

The annual outing of St Mary's Mothers' Union has been arranged for Friday, 18th August to visit York. There are a few places left and the cost is £19.
On Tuesday, 11th April Riding Lights will perform Roughshod: Reactive, a fast-paced sketch show with explosive stories and unexpected results, at 7.30pm at Sage Cross Methodist Church.

Churches Together in Melton Mowbray Lent Lunches will take place each Tuesday in Lent (7th, 14th, 21st, 28th March and 4th April), at Sage Cross Methodist Church from 12noon - 1:30pm.
Hungry visitors to the Farmers’ Market on Scalford Road in Melton Mowbray were treated to some free pancakes on Shrove Tuesday (February 28th).

Don't forget...clocks go forward on Sunday (March 26th). The UK will switch to British Summer Time (BST) at 1am on Sunday morning, meaning people will effectively lose an hour’s sleep. The change will mean there is more daylight in the evenings but less in the mornings.
