What we do

helping handsVolunteers Needed

We have so much going on always within the Parish, helping within the churches or within the community.

We need lots of helping hands.  The current ways that you can help are:

Parish Magazine Distributors:

If you have some spare time each month and would like to join the team, please give Ken Mason a ring on 01664 851930.

Care and Share Lunches

Volunteers are always welcome to help prepare & serve the food for our monthly Sunday lunches for those who would normally eat alone.   Served at the Samworth Centre at noon.  Please contact Colin on 851386 for further details.

ST. MARY'S CONGREGATIONAL CONTACT SCHEME

If you would like to help with this scheme by having a short list of people from the congregation with whom you would be willing to maintain contact, we'd love to hear from you. Further details are in the Parish Magazine for July. Please contact Revd Kevin Asby on 01664 410393, Jacqui Wilson on 01664 566286 or Jill Milner on 01664 569496.

Café @ the Centre ~ Would you like to join the ’Service with a Smile’ team in the Samworth Centre Café. If you can spare a few hours per week, Christine would be pleased to hear from you. Please ring her on 503525 or call into the café

CHURCH WATCH, St Mary's Melton:  Would you like to help with the church watch and guide visitors in the church?  Due to recent retirements we are looking for people who may be able to help with this valuable service.  It is essential that we are able to keep the church open so that visitors can enjoy our beautiful building and have somewhere to come for prayer and contemplation.  If anyone is able to offer two hours occasionally it would be most appreciated.  We can be contacted on 01664 561020.
~ Marian & John and Helen.

PRAM CLUB:  Can you help with set up, craft activities, and tidying away on a Monday morning, either every Monday, every other Monday or even once a month?  If so, please contact Carol Parker on 01664 857526.

St MARY'S SOCIAL COMMITTEES:  The committee is looking for new membership.   If you would like to know more ~ please have a word with Derek Larder or the Rector as soon as possible.

Brass Cleaning and Washing in St Mary’s ~ Volunteers are needed to help with polishing the High Altar Rail during September and October. Also, we would welcome some additional help with washing the small linen items used weekly at Holy Communion Services. This is on a rota basis and the more help that we have the less often a duty comes round. Please sign the list at the back of St Mary’s if you can help out. Thank you.

Musicians Required ~ James would love to hear from you if you are a musician out there who might like to join a new music group to play on the 4th Sunday morning service with him at St Mary’s, Melton. Please contact James Gutteridge.

Melton in Bloom Volunteers regularly work in the Churchyard maintain the beauty of the grounds for all to see and enjoy.  Call Ann Spawton on 01664 481464 for more information.

KNITTERS REQUIRED! ~ The Children’s Society
One of our great fund raising efforts is the seasonal sale of knitted chickens  and Father Christmases etc-  all filled with chocolate items.
To keep this going we are in need of some new knitters.  Can you help?  Patterns and wool provided if necessary. Contact Doreen (566303) or Gillian (851386).
