The Friends of St Mary's was formed over 25 years ago to promote the work of St Mary's Parish Church and to help with the maintenance of furnishings and fittings within the building.

It is open to all who are interested in supporting the work and maintenance of one of the finest Parish Churches in the country. There is a minimum subscription of £5.00 per year.

The Friends committee promote the work by organising social events and outings. An Annual General Meeting is held and all members are notified of this by a newsletter and subscription reminder.

Past Projects include the repair, refurbishment and cleaning of the unique candelabra in the North and South Transepts and repair and refurbishment of the ledger slab in the South Transept. Recently a pair of silver candlesticks have been comissioned by the Friends for the South Transept Altar. Current projects include the provision of new external noticeboards.

The Friends at present, run the special sales items stall in church but this is likely to change with the development of the proposed St Mary's Centre which will include a shop.

The officers at present are SpacerChairman - Ian Neale
SpacerSecretary - Derek Larder
