    Choir (St Mary's Melton)

St Mary's Parish Church supports a mixed choir of adults and juniors. The main duty of the choir is to lead the music for worship at the principal parish service at 10.00am on Sunday mornings. These services are CW Order 1 Parish Communions. On the fourth Sunday of the month, when parish communion is replaced at 10.00am by a family service, these responsibilities are taken over by the Church Music Group and a section of the choir sings at the CW Order 2 Sung Communion at 6.15pm.

The choir also sings at the great festivals of the Church, for weddings and for the numerous special services which occur throughout the year.

Choir rehearsals take place in church on Fridays (juniors 6.30 - 7.45pm; adults 7.00 - 8.15pm) and on Sunday mornings before service at 9.20am. New members are always welcome in the choir. For further details contact James Gutteridge on (01673) 843009 or via the Parish Office.

Twice a month on the first and third Sunday's you can opt to join in worship in the Colles Hall (across the road from St Mary's Church on Burton Street). There, children and adults sing together and discover the morning's theme before the children go to Junior Church and the adults are led in a time of bible study, discussion and prayer.

Children under 3 are looked after by a rota of volunteers. Everyone then joins together again for a song and moves over the road to St Mary's Church to join in the communion and stay behind for drinks and a chat. This provides something for everyone.

Worship and Nurture Committee (St Mary's Melton)

The role of the worship and nurture committee is still unfolding in its relatively new format.Broadly, it is a group of people drawn from a wide spectrum of the church community, and it seeks to work with the clergy team to promote the development of services at St Mary's which will meet the worshipping needs of every part of that community.

In the meetings the group looks at the services critically, reflecting upon the responses they have heard, and then suggest possible ways forward.

Similarly, 'Nurture' for the group means being concerned for the spiritual growth of everyone in the church community and there are close links between this group and the leaders responsible for work with various age groups.

For more information on the workship and nurture committee please contact Enid Young via the Parish Office.
