Serving up a treat

St James' Church, Burton Lazars, held a Mothering Sunday Cafe Connect on March 26th which was well attended and well received, writes Janet King.
We sat down to home-made cakes, coffee and tea and also had a taste of a Simnel Cake to celebrate the middle of Lent. Several mums took part with readings and thoughts on four questions given out for discussion around the tables. There was also a Mother's Day Quiz, activities for our younger visitors and a guitar solo by Seb Morris-Geary. At the end of the service there was a chance to light a candle in memory of mothers who have recently passed away.
There was a lovely atmosphere and lots of chat, laughter and participation. We finished with a short Act of Worship and more coffee, tea and cake for those not rushing off for a Mother's Day Lunch!
