Soup and wine raises £450

Julia and Christopher Joseph organised an excellent soup and wine special in Burton Lazars Village Hall on Saturday, December 2nd, to raise funds for the St James' Church Refurbishment Project, writes Janet King.

There was a good selection of homemade soups on offer with fresh bread and a glass of wine all for £5. For another £1 a piece of homemade cake and a cup of tea or coffee provided a suitable second course and together with a raffle, card sales and bric a brac stall, in total £450 was raised.
It was another great opportunity to chat over food and drink and there were plenty of takers for such a great Saturday lunch. Thanks to Julia and Christopher for their hard work and to all their helpers, especially Julia’s friend Lesley who did a magnificent job in the kitchen. Also a big thank you to all those who made soup or baked a cake or who helped with the clearing up afterwards. Well done everyone! A great result and an enjoyable morning.
