Bishop Martyn’s School of Prayer

When Bishop Martyn arrived in the Diocese of Leicester he promised us “more prayer and more parties”, and during Lent he will be leading a School of Prayer at Launde Abbey from May 9th -13th.

With themes of Prayer and Scripture, Prayer and Silence and Prayer and Social Action, and a programme that includes worship, teaching, conversation, workshops and practices, this looks like an experience not to be missed.

The team of leaders and facilitators includes Bishop Martyn, Rachel Bennetts (Prior of the emerging Tree of Life Community), Cathy Davies (Asst. Warden, Launde Abbey), Mads Morgan (Diocesan Vocations and Discipleship Enabler), David Newman (Warden, Launde Abbey), Helen Newman (Chaplain, Launde Abbey) and Chris Webb (Spirituality Advisor to Launde Abbey and author). Also present will be a resident artist and a resident musician.

Bishop Martyn, who describes prayer as ‘a foretaste of heaven,’ says: “I hope this School of Prayer will help people grow and develop in their own prayer lives. This is an open invitation for anyone at all, whether you’re experienced in prayer or feel yourself to be a complete novice: come and join us.”
