About Us

Team Rector, the Revd Kevin Ashby, is pictured preaching a sermon during a Remembrance Sunday Service from the pulpit in St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray.

The pulpit which will be coming back into St Mary's Church.

Pulpit Fiction!

St Mary’s Church pulpit – The rumours have been flying around again… “the pulpit is not coming back into the Church”… “it’s been sold off to an American business-man” (OK… no-one has actually said that!)… or “it’s all part of a clandestine plot by a small group who have a hidden agenda!”

Well, that’s all “Fake-News,” as a certain American business-man/president, who has not bought our pulpit, would say! The pulpit has never been part of the new liturgical furniture in our Re-ordering Project… and WILL be coming back (with the other “stuff” that’s still in storage)!

No, Mr President! This man has NOT bought our puplit.

However, we need to look at where it goes (because those who use it know that it never did face in the right direction… preachers were preaching at our recumbent knight, not our live congregation!) and how to make sure it doesn’t scratch our new floor (it is VERY heavy)!

Once it’s back, like everything else, we need to review how it fits in with how we’re using the church etc. The Re-ordering Project is still a “work in progress.” If you want any more information, have a word with the Rector… who won’t give you any “Fake-News!"
