flipping marvellous!

HUNGRY visitors to St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray, enjoyed more than 200 FREE pancakes, tea and coffee on Shrove Tuesday morning (February 13th).

The generous gesture was the church's gift to the community to mark the beginning of the season of Lent. It was good to see the North Transept full of people who had come along to enjoy the pancakes, which came with a selection of sweet fillings, and to look around the recently refurbished church building.

Many thanks to Morrisons for their generous donation towards the cost of the pancakes, to Melton Mowbray Team Parish Youth Group members Florence Kitching and Lizzie Brooks who came along on the day and helped serve pancakes, to the hard-working band of other volunteers who helped during the morning and to everyone else who came along and supported the event. Karen Balding, one of the organisers, said: "It was a very successful and enjoyable morning thanks to a hard-working and enthusiastic team of helpers. Many thanks to them, and to the people who came along to support us and enjoy a free pancake."
