Off to a flying start!

The latest Saturday activities morning in St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray, on October 20th got off to a flying start.

The theme of the morning was "Planes, Trains and Automobiles” and there was plenty to keep the steady stream of visitors amused.

Members of Melton & District Model Club came along and offered people the chance to try their hand at slot car racing. They also brought along some model planes. Tony May also brought along his model plane and there was also a 500cc Royal Enfield motorcycle in church to look at.

There was also quizzes and games, our riddle table, a Lego train set to play with, plus peg planes and rockets to make, boat cakes to decorate and a Santa Train for wishes which will hang on the Saturday@St Mary's tree in this year's Christmas Tree Festival in church. For more details about the Christmas Tree Festival click here.

Marie Styles brought along the Parish Patchwork for people to add to, there was chance to make helicopter prayers in our creative prayer area, face-painting and a chance to have a go at lace-making.

The Revd Kevin Ashby declared lift-off with his very own rocket launch, complete with countdown, plus there was the usual art, our joke box and a chance to take a trip up the church tower, plus story-time with Keith Wilson.
There was a chance to read the day's papers or to sit and chat with others over a cup of tea or coffee, juice and a tempting array of delicious cakes. The morning finished with a short act of worship at 11.45am.

Many thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make the morning such a success and to everyone who came along to the morning to support us.

*Don't miss our last Saturday activities morning of the year on November 17th when the theme will be
Remember When . . . when we hope to transport you all back 100 years. Thinking caps on for clothes of the time and we hope to look back at what sort of food might have been eaten then.

Everyone is welcome and all our activities mornings are FREE of charge.
