Peter's press-ups challenge

Peter Lovegrove, a member of the congregation at St Mary the Virgin Church, Thorpe Arnold, is a man who likes a challenge.

And that's just as well for on 8th October the plucky 56-year-old will be setting off to climb the 5,895 metre high Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. And that's not all, when he reaches the top of the mountain he is going to do ten press-ups to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Peter explained that he had wanted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for a number of years and so decided about a year ago to just get on and book it. He originally had some friends expressing interest in joining him, but for one reason or another they pulled out and he will now be doing the trip on an organised group trek.

He has chosen to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society having seen his father suffer from dementia for the last years of his life.

Peter has set up a JustGiving Page to raise money and £600 has already been donated towards his target figure of £5,895.

"It would be really great if I could receive a small amount from a lot of people, and hopefully reach my target," said Peter.
