Planned Giving and Gift Aid
Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who gives financially to support St Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray - we certainly need it. Even though we haven’t been able to welcome people to Church in the usual way, most of our costs remain the same. Also, as you might expect because of Covid restrictions, our income has dropped significantly: we’re looking at a reduction of something in excess of £50,000 this year.
As St Mary’s DCC confirmed me as their Gift Aid Secretary earlier in the year, I’ve been looking at our giving and, whilst giving through the bank hasn’t changed much, the number of weekly giving envelopes has dropped.
I imagine that this is because of the difficult practicalities of getting envelopes to St Mary’s. I did wonder, therefore, if anyone using envelopes would find it easier to give through the bank. If so, or if you would like to vary your gift, please give me a ring and I’ll help to sort it out (Melton 560080). Otherwise, remember that you can drop off any envelopes to St Mary’s Church on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10.30am and 11.30am, or they can be posted in Mary’s Place letterbox which is secure and emptied regularly.
Once again, thanks to you all for your generosity.
- Roger Kirby.
