Bell Ringing In The Parish
St Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray, has 10 bells (25-1-20 in D). We practice Tuesday evenings (7:30pm - 9:00pm). Our dedicated team of ringers ring for all Sunday services. We are available to ring for weddings if required. We welcome visiting ringers to come and join us if you are in the area. We offer tuition to anyone wishing to learn how to ring.
St Mary the Virgin Church, Thorpe Arnold, has 5 bells (6-2-19 in Bb). This is a ground floor ring. We practice on Wednesday evenings (7:00pm – 8:00pm). We ring for Sunday morning services and weddings. We welcome ringers of all abilities. Anyone wishing to learn is welcome.
St James' Church, Burton Lazars, houses two bells that are for chiming only.
St Bartholomew’s Church, Welby, has a single bell that is usually chimed for services and weddings, although this is hung for full circle ringing.
St Leonard's Church, Sysonby, also houses one bell.
Handbell Ringers
Melton also has a Handbell Ringing team. We ring the “good old fashioned” tunes on a 3 octave chromatic set of handbells. We practice in the tower on Tuesday evenings (6:30pm – 7:30pm). There are 54 steps to the ringing chamber, where we practice. We can be available to ring for groups and organisations. If you have a function you would like us to attend, please get in touch via the contact details below.
