Our Churches

Melton Mowbray Team Parish consists of 6 churches across Melton Mowbray and the surrounding villages:

• St Mary's Church in the centre of Melton Mowbray (LE13 1AE)

• St Mary the Virgin Church in the village of Thorpe Arnold (LE14 4RU)

• St James' Church in the village of Burton Lazars (LE14 2UH)

• St Mary's Church in the village of Freeby - with services held at the United Reform Chapel due to structural issues with the ancient church! (LE14 2RY)

• St Leonard's Church, Sysonby, situated on the edge of the town (LE13 0JG)

• St Bartholomew's Church, Welby which is situated a mile from the town (LE14 3JL)

Each church has a unique congregation and strong local spirit.  However, we all come together for many parish activities, educational programmes and shared services.  Our team of clergy support all the churches. 

All the churches share the administrative services of the Samworth Centre on Burton Street in Melton Mowbray.

With approximately 120 baptisms, 120 funerals and 30 weddings conducted each year, the Parish is very active within the town’s community and is always willing to consider requests for such special services.
