What are Our Services Like?
At Holy Communion Services everyone is invited to come forward to receive Communion or a Blessing. You are welcome to receive bread and wine if you normally do so in your own church.
If you are coming forward for a blessing, please bring the notice sheet with you so that we may know your intentions.
Holy Communion: This is a quieter service, without music, using traditional Anglican liturgy with the Book of Common Prayer. We sit together in the choir stalls for a more reflective service.
Parish or Family Communion: At this service, the choir and/or music will accompany the Holy Communion service.
Ten O’Clock Praise: This service is aimed at children who attend with their parents. It is held alternatively in the Samworth Centre and the main church at St. Mary’s depending on the week in the month.
Choral Evensong/Evensong: Evensong is a traditional evening liturgy celebrated in the late afternoon or evening. It is called Choral Evensong when the choir is present and most of the service is sung. Choral evensong is one of England's richest traditions and there is a moving sense of the service being part of the centuries-old musical traditions of the Church.
Connect: Connect is an informal service with readings prayers and hymns and songs with both an-all age address and an adult 'Thought for the day'. Coffee and cake is served from 10.45 am in church in a cafe style environment. The Connect service begins at 11.15 and last for approx 45 minutes. This is a perfect service to connect with friends and community ( and God of course!) in a more relaxed environment! It is held on the 2nd Sunday of the month at St James Church Burton Lazars.
